The exhibition will explore Tony Cragg’s ongoing interest in the nexus between industrial materials and organic forms, demonstrating an intrinsic and multifaceted dialogue between the natural and the man-made. The layered, curvilinear forms of the works evoke the dynamism and movement observed in nature, while embodying a distinctly mechanical aesthetic. The surfaces, sometimes smooth and polished, sometimes weathered and textured, emphasise the interplay between organic impermanence and industrial permanence.

A celebrated sculptor with an international profile, Tony Cragg has received a substantial number of accolades, including the Turner Prize, the Praemium Imperiale for Sculpture, the Japan Art Foundation Award, and an honorary knighthood from the British monarchy. He is a Royal Academician in the UK, elected to that position for his contributions to art.

The Buchmann Gallery has represented Tony Cragg since 1983; this is the gallery’s 28th solo exhibition with the artist. The Buchmann Gallery also represents Tony Cragg’s drawing archive.
