Brathwaite-Shirley’s practice acts as a diary, blurring the boundaries between reality, simulation, and subconscious experiences. Through the use of horror and uncanny figures, she draws viewers into experiences and emotions they would typically avoid, fostering empathy through shared discomfort.
UNCENSORED premieres new works—paintings, drawings, clothing racks, sound, and video—that confront viewers with emotions we often suppress. Addressing rising censorship, the show creates a space for buried conversations, prompting audiences to question their beliefs and reactions.
