Meechfieber by John Bock
Hermann S. in the local pub
For Gallery Weekend Berlin John Bock (*1965, Gribbohm) stages a “reading” in his studio. In this excerpt from Meechfieber the Berlin-based artist takes us on his tour to carry out an errand, getting some orange lemonade, sparkling water and some beer. His performance is a snippet of Bock’s “manic chamber theatre”, a radical staging of materiality and unrestraint, which explores the dark sides of our psyche and radically flaunts the breakdown of social and psychological taboos. It is also related to a recent body of works, which is going to be presented in “Studio Berlin” at Berghain, opening on Sept 9, 2020.
