Thomas Cap de Ville
shrugs
Opening – 13 SEP 2024, 6-9 pm
14 SEP until 26 OCT 2024
Galerie Lars Friedrich is pleased to present Thomas Cap de Ville’s first solo exhibition in Berlin.
Thomas Cap de Ville works in bookforms, handcrafting volumes that vary widely in composition and scale, into which he binds photographs, drawings and other archive materials from his youth.
Each of the 12 unique volumes that form the Psycospores series, started in 2017, illustrates fragments of an adolescence spent in provincial France during the 90s and early 00s, and in retrospect become reliquaries for a past life lived on the edge.
Shrugs contains three unseen books from the series – including the latest made to date (book 11) -, a new installation made on-site and a series of works on paper.
Exhibition proposal by Joseph Bourgois.
